This is not yet a sure thing. As of 3/26, CYC is asking who plans to enter and said they only need 5 to run it. This is a CAT 3 event – tethers and offshore PFDs required.

You get to choose which direction you go around the islands. Around Vashon will be clockwise unless something very unusual happens. Not sure about the Northern Islands.

Last year, start time was 7PM on Friday. In theory, one could work half the day on Friday and make the start. Time limit is 9PM on Sunday so it seems likely we would just head back to Shilshole after finishing. We’ll have to coordinate vehicles.

We will also need to coordinate food, drink and cooking fuel.

Last year’s course, likely to be the same:

Salish 200:
• Begin by leaving the starting line off Point Hudson
• Lopez Island, Orcas Island, Sisters, Clark Island, Matia Island, Clements Reef, Clements Reef Buoy, Patos Island, Waldron Island, Skipjack Island, Stuart Island, Danger Shoal buoy and San Juan Island are all rounding marks to be left to Port or Starboard accordingly.
• Record GPS time at Patos Island Lighthouse when crossing Longitude 122.95 deg W north of Latitude 48.79 deg N.
• Record GPS time off Marrowstone Lighthouse when crossing Latitude 48.101 deg N.
• Continue south and round Vashon Island to port or starboard accordingly.
• Record GPS time at Neil Point when crossing Longitude 122.49 deg W south of Latitude 47.33 deg N.
• Finish off Point Hudson
